Dental Implants

Dental Implant Services in Lexington, KY

We are oftentimes implementing same-day implants in this practice. If the circumstances are right, we are able to remove a tooth atraumatically and get an implant in there and most patients aren’t feeling too much post-op pain. When we remove a tooth, if the circumstances are right, we are able to place an implant into that area and let you heal and go home instead of three and four months down road, placing an implant. In three to four months, you’re actually able to have your tooth. We have to wait for the bone to heal, so it’s like any other time that you hurt a bone, it’s going to take a little while. But three to four months is a lot better than almost a year.

Are you missing a tooth due to injury, disease, or an extraction? Our team at Beaumont Family Dentistry can help. We offer a few different types of tooth replacement options, including dental implant services. We place and restore dental implants so that you can have a beautiful, fully functioning smile once more.

Strong, Beautiful, and Realistic Replacement Teeth

Dental implants are an aesthetically pleasing, reliable way to replace missing teeth. Let’s talk about how implants work and their benefits.

Implants are small prosthetic tooth roots that are inserted into your jawbone. Implants are typically made out of titanium and are allowed to fuse with your jawbone. This creates a secure foundation for the replacement tooth. After the implant placement has healed, an abutment post is screwed onto the implant. Your replacement tooth is then bonded to the abutment. This three-part system allows the implant to be a strong, permanent part of your mouth.

When people are missing teeth, they really have two options to replace that tooth. One is an implant, another is a bridge. For the implants we used to just have to take a couple x-rays, measure the bone, place an implant there. Everything is typically fine. It’s still a good way of doing things. With, what [Ciric 00:00:17] allows us to do is get an impression of that area. We build the crown that we want to go there and then from that crown, we then place the implant digitally using another software with our [Ciric 00:00:28] x-ray. That will place the implant exactly where we want it. Sometimes we can then eyeball it and place the implant that way. Other times if we want to get even more accurate we can make a guide using our Ciric software. That guide we then place the implant through the guide, and that implant is exactly where we need it to be for the crown that we’ve already designed.

The crown, or replacement tooth, that is bonded to the abutment is custom designed for your mouth. We use beautiful porcelain to replicate your natural teeth in the most realistic way possible. If you are concerned that someone might be able to tell that your teeth are not natural, don’t worry – with modern techniques and the latest technology, your new teeth will blend right in with your natural smile. Other advantages of dental implants include:

  • They discourage bone loss and promote a healthy mouth.
  • They have a longer lifespan than fixed bridges and removable dentures.
  • They can restore almost 100 percent of your natural chewing ability.

In terms of replacement options for teeth, implants have come a long way and they’re really the best option for replacing a single tooth. Traditionally when we did bridges you have to drill on the teeth beside the space, which is fine in some circumstances, but if they’re really healthy teeth you don’t want to have to drill on them if you don’t have to which could cause future problems down the road. Implant is replacing only the tooth that’s missing, so it’s a really easy procedure, a very minor surgery usually done within an hour. Very little post op pain and it looks and functions the most like your natural tooth, more than any other replacement option. Most people are very, very happy with their implants after they’ve had them placed.

If you have lost a tooth due to injury, disease, or removal for any reason, dental implants may be the solution you have been looking for. We understand that it may be difficult to eat the food you love while you are missing a tooth! We also understand that it’s hard to feel good about your smile! Dental implants in Lexington, KY can solve both of these problems.

Mini Dental Implants

Mini dental implants are implants designed to be placed more quickly and with less pain than traditional implants. Their ease of insertion is due to their smaller size. Mini implants are less invasive and can be used for patients who otherwise may not have adequate bone structure for traditional implants. We often use mini implants to secure dentures. Mini implants require less healing time than traditional implants and can sometimes even be loaded immediately after placement.

Implant-Secured Dentures

Tired of your dentures slipping around or falling out? We offer implant-secured dentures that will eliminate some of the typical problems people have with dentures. To do this, we place a series of implants in your gums to create a foundation for your dentures. Your dentures are then secured onto the implants using either a bar mechanation or ball attachments, depending on your needs. Immediate Implant Placement After an Extraction

Are you going to need to have a tooth removed? Have you considered your tooth replacement options? Our team is sometimes able to place a dental implant immediate after an extraction. For you, that means only one office visit and just one surgery. This saves both you and our office time and stress. If you have been told you need to have a tooth removed and are considering dental implants as a replacement option, ask your doctor if immediate placement will work for you.

Bone Grafting

We also offer bone grafting at Beaumont Family Dentistry. In some cases, a patient may not have enough jawbone in a certain area in order to place an implant. Our bone grafting procedure can solve that problem. We can use the latest technology to build up enough bone in the area in order to place your implant.
