Dental cleanings and exams are an important part of your dental care. Let’s walk through what you may expect at your first visit to our office, and what types of dental exams and cleanings we offer.
Your First Visit
You’ll get a friendly greeting and an offer of freshly baked cookies and a beverage when you arrive for your first visit. We’ll then give you a tour of the office and help you fill out any paperwork. If you are coming to get a new patient exam, you’ll get digital X-rays, a thorough examination, and a chance to get all your questions answered.
We conduct a very comprehensive dental examination and dental checkup. Using digital X-rays and an intraoral camera, we are able to get a full view of your teeth. We check your gums thoroughly for any sign of gum disease.
With our DIAGNOdent laser we can check for tiny cavities. With VELscope our hygienists can check you out for any oral abnormalities, including oral cancer. We even give our adult patients a blood pressure scan as a courtesy screening.
Patient education is of prime importance, and we take the time to educate you about your options and possible treatments. Above all, we always listen to what you have to say, answer any questions, and address any concerns.
A good hygiene regimen can keep your teeth healthy for your lifetime. Our hygienists are highly trained in all aspects of gum and teeth care and cleaning and in the nonsurgical approach to gum disease treatment.
You will get a thorough but gentle dental cleaning and education on how to best care for your teeth and gums. We offer excellent dental care products, including sonic toothbrushes at a discount.
Gum Disease Treatment & Deep Cleaning
If the dentist diagnoses any gum disease, our hygienists are trained to treat mild to advanced gum disease with dental deep cleaning using the latest technology. We are able in many cases to prevent the need for gum surgery for severe cases.
Our ultrasonic scalers use sound waves to remove plaque and calculus (hardened plaque) and provide a more gentle and effective treatment. The ultrasonic scaler gets down to the base of the pocket better, disinfecting the full mouth.
We use Arestin® antibiotic treatment and soft-tissue lasers to eliminate remaining bacteria. Visit our page to learn more about our gum disease treatment options.
Using the DIAGNOdent laser, we can detect even the smallest cavity and treat it before the decay can increase. We can even fill these tiny cavities without any need for an injection, and of course without any pain.If you do need an injection, we numb your gum first and you won’t even notice it.
At Beaumont Family Dentistry, we use strong, tooth-colored fillings that will last you for years. These composite fillings are safer to use and more aesthetically appealing than traditional amalgam fillings.
