People, particularly adults, who don’t like their teeth can develop what might be considered odd behaviors.
Some people with crooked teeth feel the need to hide them at all times. As a result, they will hold their hands in front of their mouths when they speak. They will hold napkins in front of their faces the entire time they are eating.
When they pose for pictures, they never smile. Instead they remain stone-faced (or even a little sad) with their lips pressed together to prevent anyone from seeing their teeth.
Think about how much energy it takes away from the rest of your life when you are that concerned about someone else seeing your teeth.
At Beaumont Family Dentistry, we want you to get your life back. We offer orthodontics like Invisalign to help patients throughout Central Kentucky to our three dentist offices in Lexington.
Things You Might Not Like About Your Teeth
It’s unlikely that anyone you meet was born with perfect teeth. Your teeth probably aren’t perfect either.
Your teeth could be crooked. They may have come in that way, or you could have developed problems later. One example could be if your wisdom teeth did not have room to come in. They may have pushed your other teeth out of position if they weren’t removed soon enough.
Your teeth could be crowded together. This could be because of the particular shape of your mouth. This could be the result of a problem that developed later.
You may have gaps in your smile. You might worry that the extra space is a distraction to other people.
You could have an overbite, which can affect the way you look, especially when you smile.
The good news is that if you want to correct any of those issues, you can, and Invisalign is an effective way to fix your smile.
Getting Straight
When you think about straightening your teeth, there’s a good chance that you are concerned about your appearance.
That’s a normal thing for any person. We worry about our hair and our clothes, so why wouldn’t you worry about something that you have with you all the time, like your teeth.
Unfortunately, the reasons you dislike your teeth can hurt your self-confidence, too. Like the people we described earlier, you may feel the need to avoid showing your teeth whenever possible.
That can cause some people to become more withdrawn, and even to start making excuses to avoid seeing family and friends. That’s not good for anyone.
Aside from the visual appeal of straight teeth, they also are more likely to be healthy. Crooked and crowded teeth can be more difficult to clean. That means with alignment problems may be at greater risk for tooth decay and gum disease.
Invisalign can help you look better, feel better, and stay healthier.
What Invisalign Can Do
To put it simply, Invisalign can straighten your teeth if you have alignment or bite problems. Here’s how it works.
When you come to our office, we’ll examine your teeth to see what treatment options could work for you. Invisalign works on a lot of problems, but if you need something different, we have other orthodontic treatments as well.
If you can benefit from Invisalign, we will start by making molds of your teeth. Those molds will be used to create a series of custom-made, clear, plastic aligners.
We can even show you what you final results will look like before you begin using Invisalign.
You wear the aligners over your teeth. The plastic aligners gently and gradually push your teeth into their new position.
Every few weeks, you will replace your aligners with a new one. With each change, your teeth are moving closer to their final, straight positions.
One of the other advantages of Invisalign is that most people will never notice them because the aligners are transparent. That’s something that won’t happen braces.
Treatment You Can Trust
Just as important you can count on Beaumont Family Dentistry to guide your Invisalign treatment. Our own Dr. Takacs is an Elite Preferred Provider for Invisalign. Only 1 percent of Invisalign providers attain this level of service.
You can have straight teeth. You can feel confident about your smile. You can show your teeth when someone wants you to pose for a “selfie.”
Invisalign or one of the other orthodontic treatments at our offices can make this happen.
