Enjoy Specialized Treatment For TMJ Disorders & Sleep Apnea in Lexington
My feeling is if anything we can do to improve the quality of their sleep is our goal, to make sure that patients can be given the opportunity to live a long and healthy life. Sleep is very, very important, to the point of I did write a book about five years ago, and it is a book on sleep apnea, The Power Principles for Success, and in this I talk about sleeping for success and why this is important. I'm in a dental group with 20-some exceptional dentists that only treat sleep apnea. We collaborated together, and we each wrote a chapter for a book that I'm proud to say mine is called Sleep For Success, and in it are every other doctor's chapter on sleep, on the benefits of sleep, on treating sleep, anything and everything that you ever wanted to know about sleep apnea. It's a journey, and it's a journey that I intend to continue even after I quit doing general dentistry. That is my lifelong passion, to be able to continue to treat patients that have undiagnosed or diagnosed sleep apnea.
Quite a few dentists offer some form of treatment for TMJ disorders and sleep apnea in Lexington, often consisting of mouthguards. The trouble is, both of these problems can be complex. They can both be tricky to diagnose and may require more than a mouthguard to solve the problem. Lexington dentist Dr. Trish Takacs has advanced training and years of experience treating both conditions. That’s why she opened Sleep Better Lexington.

Because I have a passion for this, to be able to treat patients and save their lives. The TMJ part is also involved with that because we have found that patients that have TMJ issues oftentimes have sleep issues, and vice versa.
If we can take care of both of those problems in one setting instead of trying to do it in between patients that I generally see, that's why I've opened up this sleep center, so that I would be able to spend more time with the patient one-on-one and that we can work together to come up with a solution for either their sleep apnea or their TMJ issues.
Dr. Takacs is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine who did a mini-residency in sleep medicine at Tufts University. She even wrote about the importance of restful sleep in the Amazon best-selling book Principles for Success, Vol. 2. She’s also one of only a few hundred dentists in the U.S. to offer TruDenta® therapy to relieve TMJ disorders, migraines, and chronic headaches. Her interest and expertise led her to establish the Sleep Better Lexington.
She uses the most advanced technology available to diagnose and treat these conditions. Unlike some doctors who might diagnose a TMJ disorder based on no more than a discussion with a patient about symptoms, she uses high-tech instruments like T-Scan III computerized bite analysis and FDA-approved therapies such as Botox®.
