Full-Mouth Reconstruction

Lexington, KY Full Mouth Reconstruction Services

We have the ability to do full-mouth reconstruction in this office. We’re able to implement a lot of different scientific techniques and give people back the ability to chew foods that they haven’t chewed in years, give them back the smile that they’ve been hiding for so long.

Many people, their teeth wear down in the back. They grind them, or they’re just positioned wrong. With the use of orthodontics and crowns, and a lot of love, we are able to get them back where they need to be, and open their mouths back up.

A lot of times by doing this, we also help them establish their airway a little bit more. When their teeth are ground down, they’re not able to breathe at night. We’re actually doing a lot of things. It doesn’t cure sleep apnea, but it can help give that person back full function of their life.

With ground down teeth, many of those people are not sleeping at night. If we can get them back open, they can sleep, they can eat, they can tolerate most things on their day to day basis that they haven’t been able to have for years.

Are you missing most or all of your teeth? Is your mouth ravaged by disease and decay? We can help. Our full-mouth reconstruction services here at Beaumont Family Dentistry in Lexington, KY use any number of our restorative options in order to rebuild your mouth from the ground up! You can have the beautiful, strong, healthy smile you deserve with just a little bit of work! Below are the steps you must take to achieve your full-mouth reconstruction and rehabilitation.

Step Two: Undergo X-rays and Examination

The next step is to show up for your appointment to undergo a series of X-rays and examinations. The results will help us understand your current standpoint and determine where we should begin.

Step Three: Discuss Your Options

One of the things that we’re seeing, especially in the Baby Boomer generation is something that’s been titled as Occlusal Disease. We obviously live in a very high stress society, a lot of demands on our lives these days. One of the ways that people do relieve stress is by clenching and grinding, so we are seeing a group of patients coming through now that have been the Crest generation where they were introduced to fluoride early in life, so they’re keeping their teeth longer, which is great. We’re not seeing as many partial indenture patients, but we are seeing more patients who have come in, and they’ve been clenchers and grinders at night and have had a lot of wear on their teeth. Where their teeth used to be nice and long and look very youthful, they have very short, stubby teeth because they’ve worn down so much of their teeth.

In those cases, we have to step back and ask the patient, “Where do you want to be in 10 years? Where do you want to be in 20 years?” Because if these are 40 year olds to 60 year olds, we want them to be in a place where they can have their teeth for the rest of their life. If they’ve already lost 50% of their tooth structure due to wear, then we need to figure out what are we going to do from this time forward either to prevent anymore further wear, or do we want to do something to help reconstruct to where you can get back to where you were 20 years ago?

That’s where full-mouth reconstruction come in. Those are very involved processes that you have to work very closely with the patient, with the dentist, and with the dental laboratory to accomplish that goal because you definitely want to get the patient nice and stabilized prior to doing any extensive work.

It is a long process for some patients, but it can be very rewarding because again, not only are you helping your oral health, you’re also greatly changing their appearance.

After your X-rays, you will meet with the doctor to discuss the results. This is a great time for you to discuss your goals and learn about your options for treatment. Below are just some of the services we can employ in order to help you achieve the smile you deserve:

  • CEREC same-day crowns – Repair a damaged tooth.
  • Fixed bridges – Replace a missing tooth.
  • Implant-supported bridges – Replace a missing tooth. Anchored by implants.
  • Dental implants – Replace a missing tooth. Fused to your jawbone.
  • Implant-secured dentures – Dentures anchored by implants. Replace a full set of teeth.
  • Traditional full dentures – Replace a full set of teeth. Removable.
  • Porcelain veneers – Cover your imperfection. Get a perfect Hollywood smile.
  • Tooth-colored fillings – Durable, visually pleasing solution to cavities.
  • Inlays and onlays – Repair damage too extensive for a filling, but not large enough for a crown.

Step Four: Create Your Treatment Plan

After you have learned all about your treatment options, it is time to create a treatment plan. You will be able to work with the doctor to determine which options are right for you. Once decided, you can implement this plan and get started on your treatment.

Step Five: Undergo Treatment and Get Busy Living

The last step in the process is to undergo whatever treatments you have chosen and then live your life! Whether you have chosen a same-day smile solution or porcelain veneers, we will walk you through the entire process and make sure you are as comfortable as possible.
