Meet Dr. Katie Bowen
Invisalign & Implants Are Special Interests For Our Hamburg Lexington, KY Dentist
I knew I wanted to be something in health care, and my uncle was a dentist, and I loved going to see him. He made it really comfortable for us. He really took time to get to know his patients, and not everyone loves going to the dentist, so it's special when you can make them feel comfortable and feel relaxed being there. I ended up always loving to go, so I wanted to be able to create that same experience for my patients.
I went to Transylvania University for undergrad. It's a small school here in Lexington, Kentucky. And from there I went to UK for dental school. We do a lot of continuing education here at Beaumont Family Dentistry, and that's something that Dr. Takacs feels really passionate about. Over the past few years, we've taken lots of courses on implants, lots of courses in orthodontics, and all kinds of different topics, sleep apnea. We did a new dentist program out in Utah that was six weekends, different topics each time, but she's really passionate about continuing education, and so we spend a lot of time doing that.
A lot of people come in here scared, and they've had bad experiences in the past, and it's hard to shake those a lot of times. When we meet them and we can tell they're fearful and they talk to us about that, and kind of slowly through building relationships with them and over the course of a few appointments, you can tell they're not as scared anymore and they're comfortable here. That's really rewarding for us because that's the whole reason why we're doing this, is to be able to provide care for people in a comfortable setting, and to see them kind of let their guard down and feel at home here is a really awesome feeling.
