Dentists want our patients to have healthy mouths, and we want our patients to feel confident and comfortable with their smiles.
This is why cosmetic dentistry has been part of our practice for decades. Dr. Takacs alone has more than 30 years of experience in cosmetic care.
If you aren’t comfortable with your smile, we can give you a smile makeover at any of our Lexington dentist offices. While we offer a variety of cosmetic services, dental veneers remain one of the most versatile options. They can be used to change a number of things that you may wish were different about your smile.
Get A Consultation
Before we start any cosmetic treatment, we like to sit down with you for a consultation.
We will ask you to fill out a Smile Questionnaire. Then one of our dentists will discuss what changes you would like to make to your smile.
We may take digital photos. We can show you the ways that your smile could be changed. For a small fee, we can even create models to show what your teeth will look like when your treatment is complete.
Before we begin, we also need to understand how healthy your teeth are, and we are happy to answer your questions about your treatment options.
Here are some examples of the ways we can improve your smile:
► Remove stains or hide stained teeth so your teeth look whiter
► Repair teeth that are chipped, broken, or worn down
► Make your teeth appear to be straight
► Close gaps in between two or more of your teeth
► Create the appearance of even spacing between crowded teeth
Veneers are one of the few services we offer that can fix each of these problems. They can even correct several of these issues at the same time.
The first veneers were created around a century ago, and they were intended for temporary use. With better adhesives, veneers were created that could remain on people’s teeth for decades.
With modern materials, veneers also look more like natural teeth than ever before. If you get veneers, your smile will look like it’s your real smile … only better.
The simplest veneers that we offer are Lumineers. But please, don’t confuse simple with low quality. Lumineers are one of the best kinds of veneers that are available today.
What makes Lumineers so different is that they are so thin.
Because of this, we are able to bond Lumineers in place in most cases with little or no preparation to your teeth. This can save you a step in the process, which we will explain below.
Other Kinds Of Veneers
We also offer e.max and Empress veneers at our Lexington dentist offices.
E.max veneers are made of lithium disilicate. This is a kind of glass ceramic. It is both strong and aesthetically pleasing.
These veneers are made with a blend of alumina, lithium dioxide, phosphor oxide, potassium oxide, quartz, and other components. When pressed together, these material form a lifelike and durable set of veneers.
Empress veneers are a kind of porcelain veneer. These too look and feel natural. They are durable, too. With proper care, they can last for 20 years or more.
Getting these veneers take a little more work than Lumineers but the final results are comparable.
For ceramic veneers, we usually need to remove some of the enamel from the front of your teeth. This is done so the application of the veneers will not change your profile.
After this thin portion of your enamel is removed, we make impressions of your teeth. This is done so the laboratory making your veneers can design them to fit onto your teeth perfectly. This gives you a custom fit, which improves that natural appearance of your veneers.
With Lumineers, we don’t need to remove any enamel most of the time. Instead, Lumineers can be bonded directly to the front of your teeth.
This may be something you are interested in if you think you may want to remove your veneers a few years down the road.
However, we should point out that nearly every patient is quite happy with what he or she sees in the mirror after the veneers are put in place.
