You wake up feeling great. You remove your mouthguard and head to the bathroom to start your morning routine.
You brush your teeth, shower, and get dressed. You kiss your spouse goodbye and hug your kids before leaving for work.
On the way, you stop to get a coffee. There’s a little traffic, but it’s not any worse than usual. You get to work on time, ready to go.
Sound almost normal, doesn’t it? If you have been suffering from frequent headaches and jaw pain, it might sound like a dream come true.
You can get back to normal, and Beaumont Family Dentistry can help. Just schedule an appointment at one of our Lexington area dentist offices.
Time For A Reset
If you had used any computerized device (and who hasn’t nowadays), then you have probably learned that turning it off and then turning it back on will off correct whatever problem you were having.
What if you could reset your daily experience? In a way, TruDenta® offers you that opportunity.
When you wake us with a headache (or worse a migraine) almost every morning, it’s hard to get going. It’s hard to stay focused on the things you need to focus on — your family, your job — when a throbbing pain is literally in your head.
Piecing Things Together
We’ve all had headaches at some time or another, but when they become an everyday occurrence, that points to a bigger issue. There’s an underlying cause that you need to deal with. Unfortunately, that’s not always a simple problem.
It can be more like a puzzle, and when you put all the pieces together, you see how to fix the issue.
TruDenta and our team at Beaumont Family Dentistry can help you put those pieces in the right places.
What is TruDenta? It is a rehabilitation therapy to help people with TMJ disorders or TMD.
TMJ (temporomandibular joint) issues can have multiple causes. You may have an infection in your jaw. You may have suffered an injury from a traumatic impact. You may have arthritis.
And you may be one of the millions of Americans who grinds your teeth in your sleep.
Any one of these causes can be a problem, but it’s also possible to have a combination of these issues at simultaneously.
Teeth grinding (also called bruxism) can be a way of coping with stress in your life. We probably don’t have to tell you that stress can come at you from all directions.
You and your spouse may be having a disagreement about a big purchase. Your boss may have given you more work or moved up your deadline on a project. One of your kids may be sick.
You get the idea.
We all feel stressed from time to time. However, how you manage that stress makes a big difference in your day-to-day life.
A Comprehensive Approach
As you may have figured out, getting rid of your morning migraines may not be as simple as taking a few pills.
You may need to take a more comprehensive approach to the situation. That’s what TruDenta Rehabilitation Therapy is designed to be.
During the first 8 to 12 weeks, you will complete a combination of in-office and at-home therapy.
In the office, we will work to help you relax your jaw with ultrasound therapy, manual muscle therapy, microcurrent electrostimulation, or a combination of those things. When you grind your teeth together in your sleep, you can more than double the normal pressure placed on your TMJ and its surrounding tissues.
At home, you may be using a combination of cold packs, lotions, or medication along with practicing relaxation techniques.
We also may provide you with a mouthguard that you wear while you sleep. The mouthguard can adjust the resting position of your jaw to ease the pressure on your joint. The mouthguard also keeps your rows of teeth separated so you can’t grind them into one another.
Last but not least, we may take a closer look at how and where you apply pressure across your jaw. Force balancing can more evenly distribute the pressure so your TMJ is not taking on more than it should.
