Technology has transformed nearly every aspect of our lives.
Thirty years ago, computers were just starting to become part of business operations, and people were still figuring out what to do with home computers.
Today, engineers are working on self-driving cars and remotely controlling vehicles on another planet. In Central Kentucky, we have made technology an integral part of our practice at Beaumont Family Dentistry.
Why? Because we believe our patients deserve the best care possible, and technology allows us to provide it. New equipment helps identify problems faster and treat those problems more effectively and painlessly.
The only way you can benefit from this technology is to visit one of our three dentist offices in Lexington. Many of our patients live in Fayette County, but we care for families who drive from Winchester and Richmond, too.
If you live anywhere in Central Kentucky, let us show you how our technology can help you and your family.
CT Scan
Why would a dentist office need a CT scanner? We understand why you may be wondering, but this isn’t the room-sized machine you might be imagining.
This is a smaller machine that scans your mouth and head to make hundreds of images. These images are assembled to create a detailed three-dimensional digital model of your mouth.
It’s like the difference between seeing a drawing of a city and seeing a 3D model of that same city. Both are helpful, but there’s no denying that you can learn a lot more from a 3-D model than you can learn from a two-dimensional image.
This can be particularly important for patients who receive dental implants. These images help us plan the oral surgery before we place those implants.
X-rays
We know we just discussed the value of 3-D images, but sometimes a simple perspective has advantages, too.
By producing digital X-rays, we can take a look at your teeth and any changes to those teeth faster than ever. We can look at our X-rays almost instantly because we don’t have to wait for X-rays to be developed like photographs. This can lead to a faster diagnosis of your problems.
DIAGNOdent
The DIAGNOdent is one of the most sophisticated tools we have for checking the health of your teeth.
Any time you come for a cleaning and examination, we will be looking closely at your teeth and gums. Even so, human eyes can only see so much. This is why biologists use microscopes and why astronomers use telescopes.
Dentists have the DIAGNOdent to find tooth decay as the infection is starting to form. The DIAGNOdent indicates where there might be a problem. It’s particularly helpful when examining children’s teeth, and it’s less invasive than other techniques for finding cavities.
VELscope
Our VELscope is an invaluable tool. It helps us more easily identify abnormalities in our patients’ mouths. We also can take pictures when needed.
While we use this tool for multiple purposes, it’s most important function may be in helping to detect oral cancer. By taking close-up images, we can identify cancerous growths earlier than ever. With any cancer, early detection helps to increase the effectiveness of your treatment.
Soft-Tissue Laser
Lasers aren’t just for concerts or for science fiction. We also use them at Beaumont Family Dentistry to treat soft-tissues problems. Rather than using a scalpel to cut into your cheeks, gums, or lips, we can use our soft-tissue laser instead. This makes the treatment less invasive, and it speeds up your recovery since no cutting is required.
Lasers effectively evaporate damaged tissue, which is virtually pain-free, and they serves a sanitizing purpose by killing bacteria.
Computerized Bite Analysis
If you may have a problem with your bite, we can assess it with our T-Scan III computerized bite analysis. If you have a problem with your bite or your bite force, it can cause oral health problems, and it can affect your ability to eat certain foods.
The sensors provide our dental staff with 3D and 2D images, which help us identify where you are having problems and how we can treat those issues.
State-Of-The-Art Dental Care
We don’t have to keep up with the latest technology. After all, people did dentistry longer before computers and ever before electricity.
But we believe the patients at every Beaumont Family Dentistry office in Lexington deserve the best care available. Technology allows us to see things we could never see with our eyes and to find problems earlier than ever.
The only way we can use our technology to help you and your family is if you come to our office, however. To make an appointment, use our online form or call the office closest to you.
