There is a significant portion of the U.S. population that is afraid of visiting the dentist. Maybe you or someone you love falls into that category. What we want you to know is that dental anxiety is a very real condition and needs to be taken seriously. Here’s why: it all too often keeps people from taking the steps necessary to properly care for their oral health. And that won’t be good for anyone. Here’s something else we’d like you to know: to better serve the potentially fearful patients at our Lexington, KY dentist’s office, we have invested heavily in the tools, training, and technology that will make it easier to come in and be treated without any pain or unpleasantness. Keep reading to hear all about what we can do for you at Beaumont Family Dentistry, and then be sure to follow up and schedule your next appointment with Dr. Takacs.
Around Here, We Take Your Concerns Seriously
Remember, we aren’t trying to make you do something you don’t want to do. But chances are, you DO want to be healthy, and you DO want to save money, and you DO want to hang onto your natural smile.
That is why it is always in your best interest to work through your fears and confront the reality of the situation in your mouth.
When you don’t visit a dentist every 3-6 months, you will be missing out on the professional-grade cleanings that can keep disease and decay in check. Plus, you won’t have a team of caregivers who are sufficiently in-tune with the situation in your mouth to be able to detect any emerging concerns like gum disease, for example.
Remember: even untreated cavities can deteriorate to the point where a root canal or extraction is required. These are the kind of situations that we want to help you sidestep.
We’ll Help You To Leave The Past Behind
Many people develop–or cultivate–a fear of the dentist based on real experiences from the past. If you are haunted by painful or unpleasant dental experiences that happened long ago, we will do our best to create good memories moving forward. We promise!
Sedation Dentistry Options
All of our locations are warm and welcoming. In the waiting areas, you will find a TV to entertain you, as well as fresh-baked cookies and hot drinks or water as refreshments. Plus, our staff is known for being kind, compassionate, and accommodating. But if you need a little bit more than all that, we know just what to do. In order to make it easier for you, we can extend to you all the benefits of sedation dentistry to help you put your fears to rest. Depending on the severity of your issues, we will set you up with sedation in one of these forms:
Nitrous Oxide In Lexington, KY
If your dental anxiety is not too severe, we can help you quickly relax with an inhalation sedation technique involving laughing gas. For this method, we will administer nitrous oxide to you via a small mask that rests over your nose. You will breathe normally throughout your procedure, and we can regulate the amount of sedation you receive.
Oral Sedation In The Bluegrass!
Nitrous oxide is sufficient for some patients, but if you suffer from mid-range dental anxiety, you are at a much greater risk of having problems and will need to step up the sedation dentistry levels to get through your visit.
The oral sedation method of sedation entails a prescription sedative that our team will arrange for you to ingest, usually about an hour before your actual appointment is scheduled to take place. Oral sedation is far more intense than nitrous oxide, and will put you at ease for the duration of your visit.
IV sedation Is Offered At Our Hamburg Location
This is a special option that not every dentist is qualified to offer. IV sedation produces a sleep-like state and is mostly reserved for long or complicated procedures or for people with a profound fear of visiting the dentist.
