Lexington Ky Dentist Opens Sleep Clinic in Hamburg Neighborhood
LEXINGTON, KY – Dr. Patricia Takacs, a Lexington dentist who operates three dental offices, has opened a new facility to aid local residents who need sleep studies or sleep apnea treatment.
The new facility — TMJ and Sleep Dentistry Center Of Central Kentucky, LLC — is located directly across the hall from Beaumont Family Dentistry’s Hamburg office, 2408 Sir Barton Way, Ste. 275.
Dr. Takacs will work at TMJ and Sleep Dentistry Center of Central kentucky, LLC on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and then at Beaumont Family Dentistry Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. The purpose of the new office is to diagnose and treat patients with sleep apnea as well as those with chronic pain, headaches and temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD).
“Sleep disorders like sleep apnea are unfortunately all too common today, and these problems can be fatal if left untreated,” Dr. Takacs said. “The purpose of the new center is to help patients identify these problems and then set up any necessary treatments.”
About 18 million Americans struggle with sleep apnea, and more than 10 million Americans suffer from TMD. These dental problems are also often connected and can be treated in a similar way.
Dr. Takacs and her dental team can treat both TMD and obstructive sleep apnea with modern, comfortable oral appliances. The oral appliances move the lower jaw forward to keep the airway open and relieve the tension on the jaw and facial muscles.
Local patients who need professional assessment of their sleep issues or jaw pains and headaches can call 859-721-2072 to schedule an appointment at TMJ and Sleep Dentistry Center Of Central Kentucky, LLC.
“Both TMD and sleep apnea are whole body problems that affect how we sleep and function in our everyday lives,” she said. “Patients who struggle with these problems can suffer severe physical and emotional problems. Our treatments for these problems are effective and affordable, and patients see results almost immediately.”
Beaumont Family Dentistry’s three locations offer comprehensive care in general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, orthodontics, laser dentistry, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, endodontics and sleep apnea treatment. Individual services include cleanings and exams, oral cancer screenings, crowns, bridges, veneers, Lumineers, full-mouth reconstructions, oral and IV sedation, dentures, sleep apnea appliances, Invisalign, Fastbraces, CEREC same-day crowns and dental implants.
Dr. Takacs credits her grandfather, who was a dentist, for influencing her career path. She attended West Virginia University and was accepted into dental school after her junior year. She went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry with high honors in 1983. Before attending dental school, she worked in a dental office in Vienna and Williamstown, WV.
Dr. Takacs has advanced training from the Spear Learning Continuum and has completed a mini residency in sleep medicine at Tufts University.
