LEXINGTON, KY – Staff members from Beaumont Family Dentistry kicked off the holiday season this month by providing care packages for deployed troops.

Beaumont Family Dentistry, a comprehensive family dental office with three locations, attended Military Missions’ Operation Send Encouragement to our Nation’s Deployed (SEND) project to provide the comforts of home to soldiers who will be overseas during Christmas.

“We are extremely proud to work with such a great organization that provides support to the incredible members of our military,” said Dr. Patricia Takacs, who operates Beaumont Family Dentistry.

Dr. Takacs’s team members have attended Operation SEND for the last three years. This year’s event was held on Nov. 2 in Lexington at the Kentucky National Guard Armory and will be Military Missions’ biggest packaging event of the year.

Volunteers contributed goodie bags for active service members who are overseas and to the local Veterans Affairs facilities. The bags included snacks, drinks, personal notes and other special touches of home. Military Missions hopes to send about 3,000 care packages to soldiers this year. Each package costs about $10 in postage.

Military Missions relies on local businesses like Beaumont Family Dentistry, churches, schools and citizens across the country to assemble and send the care packages. The packages are delivered to each soldier on Christmas Day.

“We hope we can give our soldiers something to smile about, even though they will be away from their families on Christmas,” Dr. Takacs said. “Our office is always excited to contribute our time and energy because it’s our way of saying thank you to our brave men and women in the military.”

Dr. Takacs credits her grandfather, who was a dentist, for influencing her career path. She attended West Virginia University and was accepted into dental school after her junior year. She went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry with high honors in 1983. Before attending dental school, she worked in a dental office in Vienna and Williamstown, WV.

Dr. Takacs is a Master Affiliate for Fastbraces^®, and an Elite Preferred Provider of Invisalign, a certification earned by few dentists. Fastbraces^® is designed to reduce orthodontic treatment time from two to three years to three months to a year. Invisalign uses clear aligners that gradually straighten teeth. Dr. Takacs has advanced training from the Spear Learning Continuum and has completed a mini residency in sleep medicine at Tufts University.
