The most rewarding aspect of dentistry is taking the patient that’s afraid and turning them into somebody that just loves going. We have, we see that all the time, they come in and because I feel like we take the time to nurture them and make them understand that, yes, I’m afraid of going to the dentist as well. We can make this a comfortable and pleasant experience for you, and they’re transformed. That’s part of the rewarding process, the other is taking somebody that never wanted to smile, and then all of a sudden they’re out there and they can’t stop smiling. One other reward that I think that we all have, are those patients that come in and we’re able to take them and make them understand you have more something more than just a dental problem, we need to send you to your physician. We’ve done that on, on several occasion that, and they come back and say, you saved my life because nobody ever bothered to check this, and you’re the ones that, that took the time to take our blood pressure, took the time to maybe screen for sleep apnea, things like that, and that’s rewarding as well.

After attending West Virginia University, Dr. Takacs graduated with high honors from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1983. After graduation, she worked as an associate in a Lexington practice until opening her own practice in 1984. Since then, she has also taught at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and coached dentists through a dental management company.

First of all, I grew up in Indiana, and then we moved to West Virginia. I went to WVU in 1976. Got accepted to dental school at UK, University of Kentucky, in ’79 during my junior year, so I skipped my senior year of undergrad to go to dental school. That started the whole process of me always having to be a little bit ahead of the game because they thought I was too young to start dental school being just three years out of college. I was always pushed to do the best I could, and that’s always been kind of the background that I’ve had with my parents. They’ve always expected my brothers and I to exceed beyond what we know we can do.

I graduated from UK in 1983. I set up as an associate with a doctor in town and then decided I did not want to work that way, so I went out on my own in 1984. From that point on, it’s been continuing education is very important to me. We started out with one operatory. In 1984, I had two employees, so I kind of did everything. I didn’t get a hygienist for about four years. I think because of that I developed a good relationship with my patients and took a lot of continuing education on how to manage a practice because we don’t learn that in dental school. I valued continuing education for my associates and for my employees, so we would go take various continuing education courses around the country just learning how to treat a patient the right way.

Dr. Takacs is a member of the Academy of GP Orthodontics, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the Academy of Computerized Dentistry, the Bluegrass Dental Society, the Kentucky Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Dental Organization of Conscious Sedation.

She is also the accomplished co-author of two Amazon best-selling books, Principles for Success Vol. 2 and A Cup of Coffee With My Dentist.

Dr. Takacs and her husband, Norm, have two wonderful children, Ryan and Kyle. As a family they enjoy outdoor activities and traveling. Dr. Takacs is an avid reader and lover of dogs.

Dr. Ryan Golibersuch

Dr. Ryan J. Golibersuch is a native of Lexington, KY. He graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, where he played men’s soccer, and then went on to receive both his bachelor’s in biology and his DMD from the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Golibersuch is very passionate about continuing dental education and staying current on the newest techniques and technology to best serve his patients. He has taken particular interest in CEREC CAD/CAM and 3D cone beam technology, which allows some patients to be treated in a single appointment for procedures that would have taken multiple visits in the past. He also is trained in IV sedation to better help patients feel more comfortable during long or complicated procedures.

The most rewarding aspect, I think, is helping change people’s lives. I mean it’s remarkable seeing people from when they come in and then they might be really anxious, and whether we do sedation or we just get them relaxed, we see them again a few months later and they’re a completely different person. They’re happier. They’re more comfortable. They’re more confident, and that’s always … makes you feel good.

Dr. Golibersuch is a Preferred Provider of Invisalign with affiliations with the American Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association, Fastbraces®, Bluegrass Dental Society, and International Dental Implant Association, and is pursuing a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Golibersuch is also a mentor for cerecdoctors.com, and is a trainer for CEREC in the state of Kentucky. He believes his patients deserve the absolute best treatment available, and frequently dedicates his time to learning new techniques and expanding his knowledge to offer the best comprehensive care possible.

Outside the office, Dr. Golibersuch spends his time with his wife, Hannah, and their two Labrador retrievers, golfing, watching UK sports, and enjoying the best that central Kentucky has to offer.

Dr. Kyle Golibersuch

Kyle Ashley Golibersuch is a native Kentuckian and graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in 2006. She attended Clemson University and the University of Kentucky, where she graduated from the College of Agriculture with a minor in Biology. She recently graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in May, 2015. She has received her dental license as well as an affiliation with Fastbraces® and is now seeing clients at our Beaumont office.

We have Joy, the massage therapist, or Sabrina at the other offices, and Terry. They really help the patient relax. Nitrous can help, and then any kind of oral sedation, but patients that don’t want that, all they need to do, really, is just give them time and talk to them a little bit. After awhile, they seem to be fine.

Dr. Golibersuch has completed advanced training in order to offer her patients a top level of care. She is certified in the Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique, which is used to comfortably and effectively treat gum recession.

Her dental interests include taking care of our pediatric patients as well as adult dental needs with a special interest in endodontics. Kyle enjoys running and reading and is the proud owner of a puppy pomsky, a Pomeranian/husky mix, named Cole.

Dr. Jill Miller

Dr. Jill Miller was born, raised, and educated right here in Lexington. She attended Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, and then received a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Kentucky. From there, she attended the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, where she excelled in patient care. Since graduating, Dr. Miller has been striving to provide the best oral healthcare to her patients and loves serving her community.

Dr. Miller has advanced training in laser dentistry, implant dentistry, endodontics, cosmetics, and is an affiliate of Fastbraces®. She has an Associate Fellowship with the World Clinical Laser Institute and is a member of the American Dental Association, the Kentucky Dental Association, and the Bluegrass Dental Association.

Dr. Miller initially began her dental career in 1996 as a dental assistant, working with Dr. Patricia Takacs. Her love of people and passion for working with her hands led her into the field of dentistry. She enjoys learning and implementing new technologies into the practice. She loves to educate her patients and keep them involved with their care, every step of the way.

My ideal patient is a fun one. I tell all my patients that, “you’re really not going to love what we have to do. Dentistry is not fun for most people, so you at least have to have a good time with us while you’re here.” My ideal patient is one that’s got a great sense of humor and we laugh, sometimes at me. Most of the times at me, but we laugh and have a great time while we’re in the chair. We just try to take that fear factor out of the way. Try to bring relaxation in. We’ll bring a massage therapist if we need to. My ideal patient is one that can laugh.

We do a lot of continuing education. We are afforded the ability to go all over the country and learn some of the most advanced techniques, and it has been amazing. We have different doctors that kind of specialize in different areas, and some of us have really loved the laser dentistry and the implants and we were just able to see so much and learn from some of the best people in the world. It’s great. We love just learning from each other, even having so many doctors in one practice that we just share and learn and just communicate so well that we’re able to learn the new techniques. Everything that’s coming up and is on the forefront, we try to implement in this practice.

In her free time, Dr. Miller enjoys spending her time with her family. She and her husband, Kevin, have been married since 2003 and have two amazing children—a daughter and a son. She enjoys working out, spending time with friends, or curling up with a good book.

Dr. Katie Bowen

Dr. Katie Bowen was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. She attended Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, where she was a cheerleader and a soccer player. Following high school, she continued her education and soccer career at Transylvania University, where she graduated with honors obtaining a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in Spanish.

Dr. Bowen attended the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and graduated with high distinction in 2014. She was honored by receiving awards for excellence in Periodontology as well as in Oral Pathology. She is thrilled to treat patients in a private practice setting and has a broad array of specialties such as CEREC, Invisalign, and implant dentistry.

Outside the office she likes to spend time with her husband, Matthew, her family, and friends. She enjoys staying active by running, playing tennis, or spending time outdoors. Dr. Bowen also loves to travel, having spent time in Europe and South America, and looks forward to exploring other exotic locales in the future.

Dr. Erica Higginbotham

Dr. Erica Higginbotham is a native Kentuckian who graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from Georgetown College and graduated from University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2003, where she was honored with the Quintessence Award in Periodontology and the Award for Oral Diagnosis.

Dr. Higginbotham has been very active in organized dentistry over the past ten years. She has served as a member on the Executive Board for the Kentucky Dental Association, Secretary for the Kentucky Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and board member and Vice President for the Bluegrass Dental Society. She is a Fastbraces® affiliate and also a Preferred Provider of Invisalign.
She has also volunteered locally and abroad to underprivileged areas in Kentucky and Mexico.

For me, something that is very rewarding in dentistry is just being able to take care of people. Sometimes people are very scared, there is a lot of unknowns in dentistry, there not sure what is going on, especially if they come in and are in pain. That’s the thing I like most about dentistry is that I really get to take care of people; and, two, people come in, they have a problem and I get to help them fix it. That’s very rewarding.

One of the things Dr. Takacs is really great about is encouraging all of her staff to be very well educated. She’s put a lot of effort both into the technology that is in our office and also into educating staff members, including all of the doctors. I’ve been very fortunate. I’ve done Invisalign training. I’ve also done Fastbraces training. Then she sends us to courses on implants, bone grafting, extractions. We’ve just been very fortunate that she encourages that so much among our staff members to make sure that we’re our best so that we can present the best thing to our patients.

Dr. Higginbotham and her husband, Patrick, have three children that they enjoy spending time with on their farm and equine boarding facility in Lexington.

I like the relationships that I build with my patients. What’s most rewarding for me is if you have a female come in, you build a relationship with her, and then a couple months later you find out that you’re treating her husband and then you find out a couple weeks later that I’m taking care of her children. Then a couple weeks ago, I had an elderly couple. He was 99, and his wife was 89. They came in, and they were the great-grandparents of one of my patients. That’s just really neat to be able to build relationships with people and then to feel like that you take care of them well enough that they refer their family members and their friends to Beaumont Family Dentistry, as well, to trust us to take care of the people that they care about.
