What is orthodontics? At Beaumont Family Dentistry, we offer comprehensive dentistry services, including orthodontic care. Below are the types of orthodontic options we offer. In addition to traditional braces, we offer Fastbraces®, Invisalign, preventive orthodontics, and dentofacial orthopedics.
Fastbraces® is a revolutionary technology that allows teeth to be straightened quickly and comfortably. Fastbraces® is designed to move both the crown and root of the tooth simultaneously using patented triangular brackets and a specialized heat-activated wire. Traditional braces move the crown and the root separately, requiring longer treatment times and higher levels of discomfort. While traditional braces typically require two or even three years to complete treatment, Fastbraces® can work their magic in as little at three months.
Fastbraces® is great for busy teens and adults who want quick results.
Invisalign short-term orthodontics is designed to create straight, beautiful smiles without the hassle and discomfort of traditional braces. Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic aligners that are changed out every two weeks to create even, comfortable teeth movement. Because they are made of a comfortable plastic material, Invisalign aligners cannot create the rubbing, cutting, poking, or bleeding generally associated with the metal wires and brackets of traditional braces. They are also completely removable! Just pop them out to eat, drink, clean your teeth, or for special occasions. Try that with traditional braces!
The best part of Invisalign aligners is that they are nearly invisible to the naked eye. If you are a busy student or hard-working professional who wants to keep your orthodontic care discreet, Invisalign might be right for you.
Invisible Braces Options
In addition to our Invisalign short-term orthodontics, our orthodontist also offer more traditional types of braces with aesthetically appealing options. Our clear ceramic braces and Phantom brackets will help make you feel more comfortable in your braces.
Both of these options still require the use of a traditional metal wire, which will still be visible in your mouth. However, they are great options for those who are not good candidates for Invisalign, but still want discreet orthodontic care.
Preventive orthodontics, otherwise known as Phase I orthodontics, is used to prepare your child for braces. Phase I orthodontics can begin around age 8 or 9, before all of your child’s permanent teeth have fully developed. We can use space maintainers and other oral appliances to create space or otherwise alter your child’s jaw in preparation for later orthodontic treatment in Lexington, KY. This helps to ensure the success of Phase II treatment (braces). In some cases, preventive orthodontics can even be used to help avoid the need for braces altogether.
Dentofacial orthopedics is the process of guiding a child’s growth in order to normalize the bone structure of their face and jaws. This process is often started during Phase I (preventive treatment) and continued during the braces stage. Oral appliances and other techniques can be used to change the way your child’s jaw is developing in order to create a better bite, teeth alignment, and to prepare them for Phase II orthodontic treatment.
