What To Do in Case of a Dental Emergency | Lexington, KY

Are you in pain? At Beaumont Family Dentistry, we work hard to help our patients in whatever way we can. If you are in pain, we want to help eliminate your discomfort. Below, you will find some information about what to do in case of any dental emergencies.

What constitutes a dental emergency?

The definition of a dental emergency can be confusing for some. Here are some quick guidelines to help you decide when you should make an emergency appointment:

  • You are in pain. This is always a dental emergency.
  • You have a damaged tooth. Did you break a tooth playing basketball with your buddies? Call us immediately.
  • You have lost a tooth. If one or more of your teeth have fallen out or have been knocked out, call us as soon as possible.
  • You have a tissue injury. If you have damaged your gum, tongue, cheek, or other mouth tissue and need help stopping the bleeding, please call us as soon as possible. If it is a critical situation, please get to an emergency room.
  • You have a loose or missing dental restoration. If you have lost a filling or if a crown has failed, let us know and we will fix you up!

If you are experiencing any of the situations above, please contact our office and local emergency dentist in Lexington, KY as soon as possible. We can get you the help you need quickly. We can help alleviate your pain and maybe even save a damaged or lost tooth, but you have to get to our office quickly.

What do I do if I am experiencing a dental emergency?

If you are experiencing a dental emergency, follow these steps:

  1. Call us immediately. You can find our contact information here.
  2. If it is during the business day, a member of our team will work you into that day’s schedule, if possible. We will get you in to see a doctor as soon as we possibly can.
  3. If it is after business hours or the weekend, call the number on the answering machine. Your call will be taken by our on-call dentist. The doctor will be able to advise you on what to do until you can be seen at the office.
  4. Follow any instructions given to you by the office staff or the on-call doctor. Stabilize any loose teeth, attempt to stop any bleeding, and do not touch an exposed tooth root.
  5. Come to our office for your dental emergency care and appointment.

Following these instructions is pertinent to saving a damaged or lost tooth. We try to be as accommodating as possible and will work to get you into our schedule quickly for dental emergency services.

Even if you are not experiencing any dental emergencies, we will work with you to schedule an appointment date and time that works best for you. You can call us or use our online form to send us a message. Please do not use the form if you have dental emergencies. Let us help you get the care you need, emergency or no emergency. Our team at Beaumont Family Dentistry and dental emergency clinic is here for you.
